Make Your Editor Cry: Cold slaw vs. Coleslaw

This is a simple eggcorn. The etymology of “coleslaw” is from the late 18th century and comes from the Dutch word “koolsla” which is a combination of kool meaning cabbage and sla which is the shortened form of salade.
The correct word is “coleslaw.”
