Make Your Editor Cry: Anyone vs. Any One
When it means “anybody,” anyone is spelled as a single word.
Example:
I know I’m twelve but the sign says anyone can enter the raffle.
They’ll just let anyone work in here I guess.
But when it means “any single one,” any one is spelled as two words.
The racing form has the odds but any one of these horses could win.
These rentals are basically identical so any one of them will do.
